Major Duties and Responsibilities (detailed duties):
1) Search for all surgeons in each state in the directory using the “Find a Surgeon” tool on the acvs.org website. For example, under “State”, start with “Alabama” and under “Species Clarification” select “Small Animal”, then hit the “Submit Search” button. The results should be used to please make sure every surgeon in the ACVS directory in each state is either on or then added to the spreadsheet.

Unfortunately, as many surgeons do not list their email addresses in the directory, once we are sure we have the names of every ACVS-certified Small Animal Surgeon, for those missing emails in the directory, we need to:

2) search for their email addresses on the internet, either associated with their place of business, a website, or otherwise. Once an email address is found for a surgeon who does not yet have one listed on the spreadsheet, the hired student should ensure the address appears to be current (usually associated with their current workplace) and enter the address into the spreadsheet.

Still, some surgeons working in private practice may not have an email address available publicly. We would ask that the hired student use good judgement and not spend more than 10 minutes looking for any one surgeon’s email address, as it may not be publicly available. We therefore understand we may not be able to retrieve every email address! However, in searching for the first 4 surgeons whose emails were not yet found, I was able to find all 4 of them through a Google search and a few clicks, all in about 20 minutes!
