IGB News (Nov. 5) – To better understand what biological mechanisms underlie resilience, researchers at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign have been awarded $1.8 million by the National Science Foundation. “This study will explore the networks of resilience before, during, and after stress, giving us insight into how resiliency emerges and uncovering when and where intervention could be most effective,” said Howard Gritton, an assistant professor of neuroscience and comparative biosciences, and one of eight researchers on the grant. A second faculty member from the College of Veterinary Medicine Department of Comparative Biosciences, Paul Bonthuis, is also part of this research team.
