Medical XPress (Douglas, Isle of Man, April 27) – In a recently published paper, researchers from the U. of I.’s department of comparative biosciences describe how they were able to inhibit the activity of a specific neuronal cell type in the hippocampus to induce cellular and behavioral changes associated with aging. The study confirms a causal relationship between reduced function of certain interneurons in the brain and cognitive decline.
