Shortage of Veterinarians in Rural Illinois

Jacksonville Journal-Courier (Jacksonville, Ill., March 26) – The number of veterinarians practicing in rural areas is declining at the same time veterinary schools are turning out more graduates than ever. “It’s a geography problem,” says Dr. Jim Lowe, a professor and interim assistant dean at the U. of I. College of Veterinary Medicine. “We are seeing the same thing in human medicine.”
