French Bulldogs Popular, Problematic

Forbes (Jersey City, N.J.; March 15) – In an article about the French bulldog usurping the Labrador retriever as the most popular dog breed in the U.S., it was noted that French bulldogs suffer from a variety of health problems. The article references a post by anesthesiologist Dr. H. Nicole Trenholme, which states that brachycephalic breeds, such as French bulldogs, require a Caesarian section to reduce mortality of the dam and her puppies.
