The Horse (Sept. 6) – Equine multinodular pulmonary fibrosis (EMPF) is often diagnosed after horses have been treated for other respiratory diseases, according to Pamela Wilkins, DVM, MS, PhD, Dipl. ACVIM, ACVECC, of the University of Illinois Veterinary Teaching Hospital. “Exercise intolerance and fevers are common early and may progress to respiratory distress and respiratory failure if EMPF is not diagnosed.”
