The Wall Street Journal (New York City, June 16) – Royal Caribbean is postponing a voyage in July after eight crew members tested positive for COVID-19, demonstrating the challenges that arise with restarting cruises during the pandemic. The crew members haven’t gone past the 14-day mark after their vaccine shots, thus leading to a higher risk of disease spread, says Rebecca Lee Smith, a professor of epidemiology at Illinois. “One of the concerns with this group is that they weren’t fully vaccinated yet, and so they were still susceptible,” Smith says.
