Program Tracks Ticks

The Pantagraph (Bloomington, Ill., June 14) – Started in 2018, the ITICK program involves people who spend time outdoors logging in to report where they find ticks and helping researchers identify them. “It has contributed greatly to our understanding of what ticks are in Illinois,” says Dr. Rebecca Lee Smith, a professor of epidemiology at the U. of I. College of Veterinary Medicine. “If we know where ticks are, we can let people know” and tell them “what potential diseases they may be carrying.”
