Hormonal mechanisms regulating uterine biology:

Molecular basis of progesterone and estrogen action in the uterus. Identification and functional characterization of estrogen and progesterone receptor-regulated pathways underlying embryo implantation. Analyses of human uterine markers in endometrial diseases, such as endometriosis and infertility.

Hormonal mechanisms regulating ovarian functions:

Molecular basis of progesterone receptor action in the ovary. Identification and functional characterization of progesterone receptor-regulated pathways during ovulation, using knockout mouse models.

Development of novel contraceptives:

Molecular mechanism of action of a novel progesterone receptor modulator Ulipristal, which prevents ovulation in women.

  Hormonal regulation of cancer:

Analysis of the roles of steroid hormone-dependent pathways in the etiology of endometrial, ovarian and breast cancer. Use of transgenic mouse models to understand the signaling mechanisms that provoke endometrial, ovarian, and mammary epithelial cells to enter tumorigenic pathways.
