Consultations between our Veterinary Partners and our Specialists:
Professional consultations between licensed veterinarians and our specialty services are available Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (CST), excluding holidays and official college closures. In addition to their clinical duties, faculty members also have teaching, research, and administrative responsibilities, so may not be immediately available.
To streamline the consultation process and ensure all pertinent case information is collected in one location, several of our services now utilize electronic consultation forms. Once a form is completed and submitted, you will receive an email confirmation, and the appropriate specialty service will be notified. A clinician will then contact you after reviewing the case details, generally within 1-2 business days.

Please note that consultation services provided by the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine Veterinary Teaching Hospital are not intended to diagnose or treat patients. Because no veterinarian–client–patient relationship exists for these consultations, you, as the attending veterinarian, remain responsible for the evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of your patient.
