AJVR (Oct. 21) – Over the past decade, Dr. Heidi Phillips has investigated the most effective ways to assess and assist pets suffering from brachycephalic obstructive airway syndrome (BOAS). In 2017 she became the first US veterinary surgeon offering laser-assisted turbinectomy (LATE), a procedure developed in Germany that removes obstructive turbinates inside the nasal cavities. Dr. Phillips also raises awareness among veterinarians and pet owners of the dire health impacts arising in brachycephalic pets.
