Tell us about your background.
I grew up in Michigan and graduated from Michigan State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine in 2020. Afterward, I matched into a small animal rotating internship at North Carolina State University, which I completed in 2021. I then pursued a cardiology specialty internship followed by a cardiology residency at the University of Illinois. I became board-certified in 2025. I am thrilled for the opportunity to remain at the University of Illinois as a faculty cardiologist.
How did you become interested in cardiology?
I knew early on that I wanted to pursue specialty medicine. My interest in cardiology began during my first-year physiology course, where I was fascinated by the heart’s conduction system. As I progressed through training, my passion for cardiology deepened.
I love that the field allows us to care for such a wide spectrum of patients—young and old, emergent and chronic—while also offering opportunities to perform interventional and hybrid surgical procedures.
Tell us about one of your favorite cases.
It’s hard to choose just one case! What I find most rewarding are the moments when I can sit down with clients and walk them through their pet’s condition in detail—explaining medications, treatment options, and the “why” behind our recommendations.
Taking the time to sketch out a diagram or clarify a complex concept not only helps clients feel empowered but also improves compliance and strengthens the bond of trust. Those connections are the cases that stay with me.
What are your special interests inside or outside of the clinic?
Within the clinic, I’m passionate about fostering a positive, engaging learning environment. I have particular interests in interventional procedures and feline cardiology.
Outside of work, I enjoy hiking, camping, and other outdoor adventures, as well as quiet evenings spent reading or studying a new language.
