Dr. Bahaa A Fadl-Alla is an instructor and veterinary research scientist in the Department of Pathobiology.
When did you begin working at the College of Veterinary Medicine?
I joined the College of Veterinary Medicine in March of 2001.
Describe your role at the college.
I am an instructor for both Microbiology Lab VM 607 and Clinical Skills Learning Center Lab VM 606.
Have you held any previous titles or responsibilities at the College?
I came to the university as a veterinary research scientist. I have been promoted to the instructor position since 2015.
What is your favorite part of your job?
My favorite part of this job is being able to interact with the many students and amazing personalities that come through our program. I feel a level of joy being able to be a part of the growth and development of amazing vet students. Being able to troubleshoot with the students and seeing the many different views that students have, is truly the best part for me.

…when I was nominated and awarded the Academic Professional Excellence Award in 2018. It truly was a pleasure to be celebrated by some of the topmost prestigious individuals at this institution.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
When I am not at work, I am usually finding new ways to upgrade the landscaping of my home. Along with keeping up with my five children.
What is something your co-workers may be surprised to know about you?
I have a huge interest in world region studies and in all things regarding cars!
What is one thing on your bucket list?
One thing on my bucket list is touring the south part of Europe, which I hope I get to do soon.
Do you have a favorite restaurant or place in the Champaign/Urbana area?
It’s a tie between Shawarma Joint and Kohinoor, they are both my favorite food.
Aside from necessities, what one thing could you not go a day without?
Drinking my morning cup of coffee (I can’t be the only one)!
Do you have any pets?
As much as I would love to have pets, my five kids keep me more than busy. So for now, studying them will do. 🙂
