MRI for Bearded Dragons

News-Gazette (Feb. 15) – Dr. Krista Keller, head of the zoological companion animal service, teamed up with Beckman Institute to develop protocols for safely anesthetizing and performing MRIs on bearded dragons, the most popular pet lizard. “From a clinical point of view, an MRI is a diagnostic we reach for in humans and animals when we need to know what is going on inside the brain,” Dr. Keller said, such as when the patient has symptoms like seizures, tremors or changes in vision. “But you need to know what normal is.”
