Externship in Small Animal Emergency

Emergency Veterinary Hospital and Specialty Services offers 2 week externships to third and fourth year veterinary students. Externs work directly alongside our emergency doctors and specialty clinicians (including 2 U of I grads!), participating in triage, diagnostics, treatment planning, procedures, and patient monitoring in a fast-paced environment. You will gain real-world experience managing urgent and complex cases from the moment you walk in the door. Our hospital sees on average of 40 patients per day and upwards of 60 patients per day on the weekend, making us an excellent place to gain extensive experience not only with cats and dogs, but with exotic species as well.
