Brandon Boyd, facilities director, began working at the College of Veterinary Medicine in 2017.
When did you begin working at the College of Veterinary Medicine?
I started in May 2017.
Describe your role at the college.
I am the Facilities Director for the college. I oversee all of the construction and maintenance for the college. This includes the day-to-day facilities operations, which I could not accomplish without the assistance of my team. I am currently overseeing around 21 active construction projects, which include the Radiology renovation, Oncology addition, LAC locker room updates, and many others.
Have you held any previous titles or responsibilities at the college?
I have not held any other positions at the college but I have been at the university for 25 years, working at the Illini Union and McKinley Health Center prior to starting at the college.
What is your favorite part of your job?
My favorite part of the my job is updating and creating new space for our students, faculty, and staff. The transformation of space from old to new is always satisfying to me. I think that the college has seen a lot of transformation in my time here and that gives my team and I great pride to be a part of that.

…hard to define. I have a lot of memorable moments here and like them all on an individual basis.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
I enjoy gardening, woodworking, restoring classic cars, fishing, and being outdoors in general.
What is something your co-workers may be surprised to know about you?
Not sure. I will become a grandparent in October of this year.
What is one thing on your bucket list?
I would like to travel to Scotland and see some of my family’s ancestral castles there.
Do you have a favorite restaurant or place in the Champaign/Urbana area?
I like just about any kind of food so it is hard to choose. I do like Seven Saints as they usually serve some unique food.
Aside from necessities, what one thing could you not go a day without?
I couldn’t go without my recliner and a good tv series. It helps me decompress at the end of the day.
Do you have any pets?
Yes. I have three dogs. Their names are Ginger, Bandit, and Zeus. I also had two cats, but they recently passed away.
