This externship program is designed to create opportunities for experience in many of our clinical services to help provide a comprehensive learning opportunity. 

The Veterinary Teaching Hospital at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign is offering a paid externship opportunity for veterinary technicians. In this program you will gain valuable experiences in several of our clinical services.

Externs could gain experience in many of the following clinical services:

  • Imaging
  • Cardiology
  • Emergency Care
  • Intensive Care and Intermediate Care
  • Medication Dispensary
  • Neurology
  • Oncology
  • Ophthalmology
  • Orthopedics
  • Rehabilitation
  • Soft Tissue Surgery
  • Small Animal Anesthesiology
  • Zoological Medicine

There is potential to gain experience in Equine Medicine and Surgery and Food Animal Reproduction Medicine. 

 

We’re Investing in Our Programs

A $12 million hospital-wide renovation and expansion project wrapped up in 2021. Over the past six years we’ve added:

  • A 9,000 sq ft small animal surgery wing with 8 ORs, including an interventional radiology suite
  • A state-of-the-art linear accelerator and a new 128-slice CT to support its use
  • A 3T MRI
  • A new facility for small animal primary care, zoological medicine specialty service, and our Wildlife Medical Clinic
