Posh Pet Party to Benefit Advances in Animal Health

URBANA - Want to enjoy an evening of gourmet treats and wine, smooth Latin jazz, and four-legged companionship in support of a good cause?

The third annual Oskee Bow Wow is sure to please everyone who loves pets and parties--and pets at parties. The event of the season for animal lovers is inviting people to bring their pets on Thursday, September 4, from 6 to 8 p.m. at University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine, 2001 South Lincoln Avenue, Urbana. Proceeds will support the College's Companion Animal Memorial Fund, which promotes animal health and veterinary education.

Guests will have an opportunity to speak with experts who are making advances in animal health care. There will also be tours of the University of Illinois Veterinary Teaching Hospital, the state's premier veterinary referral center, where more than 80 veterinarians--from surgeons and oncologists to dermatologists and dentists--care for more than 16,000 animals every year.

Webster, a cherished member of the family of University of Illinois President Joe White and his wife Mary, will again be the official host and greeter.

Live music by a Desafinado trio and gourmet hors d'oeuvres and wine donated by English Hedgerow, Jim Gould, Mezza Luna, Pasha Mediterranean, and Piccadilly will add to the festivities.

Laura Trovillion Photography will be taking candid portraits of guests and their pets, which can be viewed and printed after the event.

Registration costs $50 per person and $10 per pet. To register, visit http://www.vetmed.illinois.edu/advancement/ or call the College of Veterinary Medicine at 217/333-2761.

ABOUT THE COMPANION ANIMAL MEMORIAL FUND
In 1984, the Companion Animal Memorial Fund was created to allow veterinarians and animal owners to honor the memory of special animal patients and friends. Since then more than $1.25 million has been raised to promote companion animal health by funding noninvasive studies and advancing care and education at the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine.
