Transfer Student Info

Who can apply to transfer to Illinois? Students who meet the following qualifications:

  • Will have completed one full year of veterinary education prior to their entrance to the University of Illinois;
  • Are in good standing at their current veterinary institution;
  • Are interested in entering our second-year class.

The College of Veterinary Medicine considers applications from prospective transfer students on a case-by-case basis. Decisions about transfer admissions are made no sooner than June 30 of each year.

We accept qualified students into our second-year class only. We offer admission to a very limited number of students. The number of seats available each year is determined in a manner that allows us to maintain a stable class size.

Each completed, qualified transfer application is carefully considered. Decisions made by the College Admissions Advisory Committee are final.
