First News (WCIA-TV; July 7) – A new University of Illinois study has found that tickborne diseases are being reported every month of the year in every county in Illinois. At the same time, data from the CDC shows the number of tick bites peaks in the summer. Associate Professor of Epidemiology Becky Smith jsaid, “The first step is to know the risk of where you’re going. Know if you’re going to an area that has a lot of ticks — which in Illinois is every single county. If you’re going camping in Illinois, just be aware.”
