Veterinary Practice News (April 2) – Naomi Esquivel, a student at the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine, was selected for two scholarships from the American Association of Veterinary Medical Colleges (AAVMC). The Merck Animal Health Diversity Leadership Scholarship, which recognizes students who have championed diversity initiatives, and the AAVMC Patricia M. Lowrie Diversity Leadership Scholarship. Esquivel co-founded the Illinois student chapter of the Latinx Veterinary Medical Association and spearheaded other efforts to bring veterinary medicine to historically underrepresented youth.
