Dr. Laura Portee is one of three alumni of Southeastern Illinois College to be named Distinguished Alumni in 2023. She spoke at SIC’s commencement on May 12. Dr. Portee’s advice to graduates is, “Do what your heart tells you to do. Just set a goal and stick to it. If you change your mind, fine, but don’t let others make that choice for you.”
