FarmWeek (April 13) – Horses may wish to indulge all day in the sweet taste of spring pasture, but Dr. Rebecca Bishop, an equine surgeon at the University of Illinois Veterinary Teaching Hospital, advises progressively reintroduce them to pasture after hay being such a big part of their diet all winter. Dr. Bishop suggested starting horses on spring pasture for 10-30 minutes at first and gradually increasing pasture time.
