Local Rabbit Population

News-Gazette (July 23) – A reader inquired about a perceived increase in the number of garden-destroying rabbits, and Dr. Samantha Sander, director of the Wildlife Medical Clinic, replied: “The rabbit population can fluctuate from year to year and is affected by the presence of predators, availability of food for the adults, and environmental conditions (including temperature and humidity).”
