Biography
Dr. Stefania Gelendi is originally from Padua, in northern Italy, where she earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Padua. After graduation, she moved to the United Kingdom to complete a small animal rotating internship in a private referral hospital in England, followed by a specialty internship in Small Animal Emergency and Critical Care at the University of Edinburgh, Scotland.
Dr. Gelendi relocated to the United States in 2022 to join Auburn University’s Small Animal Emergency and Critical Care program, where she completed both her residency and a master’s degree. She joined the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine in 2025 as a Clinical Assistant Professor in Small Animal Emergency and Critical Care.
Her professional interests include fluid therapy, transfusion medicine, and critical-care physiology. When she is not in the ICU, she enjoys weight training, dancing, and traveling.
