Biography
Dr. Andressa Varella Gonsioroski is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Anatomic Pathology at the Illinois Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, and a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Pathology. Her professional expertise includes anatomic pathology, toxicologic pathology, and reproductive toxicology.
Dr. Gonsioroski earned her DVM and MS in Animal Reproduction from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul in Brazil, followed by a PhD in Reproductive Toxicology from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. She subsequently completed a residency in Diagnostic and Toxicologic Anatomic Pathology at Michigan State University and received board certification in Anatomic Veterinary Pathology in 2025.
Her research has focused primarily on the effects of environmental contaminants and water disinfection byproducts on female reproductive health. She has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications in reproductive biology, toxicology, and environmental health.
In her current role, Dr. Gonsioroski provides diagnostic histopathology, immunohistochemistry, and necropsy services while teaching and mentoring veterinary students and pathology residents. Her professional interests lie at the intersection of veterinary pathology, reproductive biology, and toxicology, with a focus on understanding how environmental exposures affect animal health.
