Dr. Heidi Phillips is a board-certified small animal surgeon with a passion for treating canine and feline surgical diseases.
She graduated summa cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine in 2001, and completed a rotating internship in small animal medicine and surgery, followed by a 3-year small animal surgery residency at Penn in 2005. She subsequently attained specialty certification and enjoyed working in a private practice surgery clinic in her home town of Pittsburgh, Pa. before returning to Penn in 2007.
Dr. Phillips worked as an adjunct faculty member of the University of Pennsylvania for nearly 5 years, obtaining specialty training in renal transplant medicine and surgery and microvascular surgery during that time. Dr. Phillips has authored numerous publications and book chapters on areas of research and surgical practice, and also has a passion for teaching veterinary surgery, receiving several teaching awards during her career.
She lives in Champaign with her husband, Nate, and two cats, Misha and Moby.
