Dr. Mauria O'Brien, who is board certified in veterinary emergency and critical care, helps run the emergency service and intensive care unit in the Small Animal Clinic. Dr. OBrien received her veterinary degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. After working in general practice for nine years, she completed a residency in small animal emergency and critical care at the Animal Emergency Center in Glendale, Wis.
Dr. OBriens research interests focus on the role of vitamin D in immune health. In her role as a teacher, she says her goal is to give the students practical advice and to help them hone their skills and instincts as a clinician so that they are better prepared when they start their careers.
In her spare time, Dr. OBrien enjoys gardening, woodworking, and spending time with her three dogs and two cats.
