Dr. Edgar Garrett sees sees farm animal patients at the Veterinary Teaching Hospital. His professional interests center around the integration of veterinary medicine with livestock production, primarily cattle. Specific areas of interest include the effects of nutrition on animal health, reproduction, and young stock development.
Dr. Garrett received his undergraduate and veterinary degrees from Auburn University. After graduation, he came to the University of Illinois for a food animal internship, then completed his residency in food animal production medicine and a masters degree in dairy science at the University of Wisconsin. Before returning to the University of Illinois in 2006, his experience included a variety of work within the private practice industry.
He and his wife, Dr. Laura Garrett, have three children. They are part of a family partnership that owns an orange grove and cow-calf operation in south Florida.
