Clifford Shipley

Dr. Clifford Shipley is the attending veterinarian for the campus Agricultural Animal Care and Use Program and also sees patients in the Veterinary Teaching Hospital. He is a clinical associate professor and is board certification by the American College of Theriogenologists.

His research interests include animal reproduction, with an emphasis on embryo transfer, laparoscopic artificial insemination, semen collection, and semen freezing in small ruminants. Dr. Shipley has published many articles on the effect of diet on reproductive performance in swine, horses, sheep, and goats. He is also interested in cervid reproduction and herd health and has spoken nationally and internationally on reproduction.

A native of Iowa, Dr. Shipley earned a veterinary degree from Iowa State University and served on the faculty at Virginia Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine before joining the faculty at Illinois. He lives with his family on his 15-arce farm in rural St. Joseph where he keeps about 80 deer and elk.
