Dr. Allison Stewart, a board-certified equine surgeon, has a passion for horses and for providing the best care possible for her patients and their owners.
She received her veterinary degree from Oklahoma State University, then completed an internship at Kansas State University, and a surgical residency at Cornell University. During her surgical residency at Cornell, Dr. Stewart completed a master's degree evaluating stem cells for joint repair. She worked at Kansas State as a large animal emergency surgeon and in private practice at the Equine Specialty Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio, before coming to the University of Illinois.
At the University of Illinois Dr. Stewart teaches veterinary students surgical diseases of the horse. In addition, she is continuing to study the use of stem cells in joint and tendon repair of the horse.
At home she has a rescue horse named Grey and two rescue cats, Bass and Black Magic.
