Strategic Plans

In a rapidly changing world, how can we at the College of Veterinary Medicine continue to improve the lives of animals and people, and improve the health of our planet?

After an extensive process involving many months and many voices, the faculty endorsed a new strategic plan in the spring of 2012. The plan, which builds on our previous strategic plan and its successes, will impel the college toward a transformative future, one that increases our capacity to make lives better and focuses on our core mission:

  • Continued innovations in education;
  • A reinvigoration of research through strategic recruitment of renowned scientists and outstanding graduate students and through key collaborations with campus researchers;
  • Continuous improvement in clinical service to our patients, clients, and referring veterinarians while facilitating a world-class veterinary education for our students, and delivering the finest continuing education to veterinary professionals.

The plan also incorporates strategies to revitalize the internal culture and external reputation and identifies stewardship of human and material resources as a core value.

The new strategic plan gives the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine a road map for reaching national preeminence and reaffirming our rich legacy of outstanding education, research and clinical service—the means by which we touch the lives of so many animals and people.

We invite our alumni and friends to join us in pursuit of our goals. For information on how you can help, please contact dean@vetmed.illinois.edu.
