Office of the Dean
For the 117 members of the Class of 2013, Sunday's commencement ceremony marked the culmination of a cherished dream, an important milestone in their veterinary careers. The class was made up of 93 women and 24 men; 96 were Illinois residents. Their aspirations will lead them to mixed animal practices in the state, to public health careers, to internships and specialization in a variety of fields. As we celebrated the achievements of these individuals, the college also acknowledged a significant milestone: their graduation represented the full delivery of our new veterinary curriculum, which has been hailed by members of the AVMA Council on Education and other leaders in the field as an innovative model. I invite you to join me in congratulating the Class of 2013, pioneers of the new Illinois curriculum, and to refresh your knowledge of what makes this curriculum unique. --Herb
