Welcome to my blog! I will be sharing my experiences working with Eastern Box Turtles and Spotted Turtles in Cape Cod, MA.

This is the first time that the Wildlife Epidemiology Lab will be conducting a study in Massachusetts! We are doing health surveillance on the turtle populations to get baseline data about disease prevalence in this area. Turtles will be located via radio telemetry with the help of the conservation biologists and technicians at Camp Edwards. Box turtles and Spotted turtles have been listed as species of “special concern” in Cape Cod. We are thrilled to help with their conservation!

A little bit about me!Lauren Intro Pic

My name is Lauren Vincent, and I am from Laguna Niguel, CA. In 2018 I graduated from California Polytechnic State University San Luis Obispo where I obtained my BS in Animal Science. I just finished up my second year of veterinary school at the University of Illinois. I am an active member of our Wildlife Medical Clinic, and my favorite days in vet school so far have been spent taking care of native Illinois wildlife. In the Wildlife Epidemiology Lab, I’m working on a project comparing the effects of different anticoagulants on blood from European Starlings. I’m SO excited to start my fieldwork this summer with the turtles in Cape Cod!
