Welcome back to the blog! With field season slowly slipping away, Sam and I wanted to return the focus to the stars of summer: Blanding’s turtles!

This week’s vlog is from the perspective of some of our favorite turtles. You will know when the Blanding’s have taken over the camera when you see a color change.

Turtles have rods and cones in their eyes, like most animals, but they use some of the cones to create oil droplets that help them see the color red more vividly. They also may have the ability to see part of the UV spectrum!

In this vlog, you will see daily activities including swimming, basking, dangerous adventures crossing a road, and more. We had a lot of fun imagining what these turtles think of us and we hope you enjoy the video!
