This week Kayla and Carley did some solo work. While Kayla was collecting field samples, Carley was doing her Summer Research Training Program orientation week at the lab. Carley is participating in the University of Illinois S.R.T.P this summer which Kayla participated in last summer. During this program, students are matched with a mentor of similar veterinary interests and collaborate on a research project. In the afternoons, Carley and Kayla would meet up back at the lab and finish the night doing some lab work together. Because we’ve been extremely busy working separately, in the field, with headstarts, and with lab work, there will not be a vlog this week 🙁 but keep a look out for next week’s!

The great part about being so busy is that we were able to sample our 100th Blanding’s in just 9 days!! Although, we couldn’t have done it without some help from our friends. Kelcie, from the box turtle team, brought us lots of supplies and helped us sample headstarts, which was very much appreciated. This upcoming week, Kayla and Carley are looking forward to getting back into their normal routine and working together in the field again. Keep checking back for next week’s vlog and we hope you had a great Memorial Day weekend.
