Division of Physiology
Faculty in the Division of Physiology teach general organ system physiology in the professional veterinary curriculum and specialized graduate level courses in their areas of research interest. The emphasis in all these offerings is on the mechanisms of normal and disease function as related to integrative physiology in vertebrates. Research by faculty in the Division is supported by extramural funding from NIH, USDA, C-FAR, DOD, AHA, and a variety of local and private sources. Projects include studies designed to characterize the effects of steroids, especially estrogen and estrogenic compounds on vertebrate reproductive, and cardiac function, the molecular basis of hormonal regulation of embryo implantation and the circadian timekeeping system and sexual differentiation of the brain.
