Orphan Baby Shower 2018

The Wildlife Medical Clinic held its annual Orphan Baby Shower this past Saturday, April 21st at Prairieland Feeds in Savoy. Every year, the clinic holds a baby shower with its current orphans to educate the community on our everyday wildlife and how to decide if an animal is orphaned, what it takes to provide for the orphans in our care, and what sorts of species we commonly deal with. This year, we had some orphaned bunnies, squirrels, raccoons, and opossums attend the event in addition to our resident animals. The community was able to watch and ask questions as the orphan team fed the babies twice during the baby shower.

Our second-year clinic manager, Kara Hiebert, gave a presentation on when/how to approach orphaned wildlife. Interactive games were available for children to learn about these animals and the care WMC provides. Overall, the Orphan Baby Shower was a success as the community was delighted to see the orphans and learn about the do’s and don’t’s of orphaned wildlife. Thank you to everyone who stopped by and all the volunteers that helped out with the event!

Thank you, volunteers!
