Once you have written and finalized your reports, they may be uploaded to the Vetstar record. In Vetstar, they will be stored permanently and may be retrieved at any time in the future. To be uploaded to Vetstar, the report must be converted to simple text format and saved in a network directory. This is done automatically if you run the 'Save for Vetstar' macro as follows.
Make sure that the report is FINAL. It will be stored in the patient's permanent medical record.
The macro will first save your original file in its current location. It then creates a new version of the file in a format compatible with the Vetstar record, and saves it on a network file share for upload. Your report will automatically close when this process is completed.
- You must be logged into the CVM-AD (which you do when you log onto the machines in the VTH).
- The macro will stop if you try to run it without the patient name, owner name, record number, and visit date fields completed. This information is necessary for selecting the correct account and visit when the report is uploaded to Vetstar. If you start your report from Vetstar, this information will be automatically entered into your report.
- To run the macro, click on a 'Save for Vetstar' button, located on Word's standard toolbar::
- If you are using Word 2007, macros are found on the 'Add-Ins' tab on the toolbar.
- If you have problems, see http://www.cvm.uiuc.edu/vetstar/VTHForms/Office2007.htm or contact vetstar-help@cvm.uiuc.edu for help.
- The macro will run, prompting you with last chances to save a backup copy, spell check, and print. When it is finished, it will display a message that your report has been converted and saved, and close the file.
- Allow a few days for the report to be imported to Vetstar. Look up reports in Vetstar by reading the visit summary or running a quick command. See the url http://www.cvm.uiuc.edu/vetstar/VTHForms/VSRptLookup.html for more information on looking up reports in Vetstar.
