Hints
If you need information about a patient or client, first access that account. If you are presented with a visit selection window, select the correct visit to limit the data to one visit or cancel out of the Window to include all visits. Enter quick commands into the Command line of the Client/Patient screen. If you don't know what to enter into a field, look at the bottom left corner of the Vetstar screen for tips. Use lookup windows to search for codes (F4 key). The screen tips will contain'<Window>' when a lookup is available.- When running a report for a single date, repeat the date for the 'Start Date' and 'End Date' fields.
- Use the lookup window (press F4) at the Printer Destination screen to search for the printer code if you do not know it, or refer to this link.
Print an Appointment Report for a specific Department/Date(s):
Enter the quick command allsch. Complete the Office Visits screen. Be sure to enter your department's code, or you will get a printout of all appointments for all departments. Display Appointment Schedules on the screen for a single date:
From the Client/Patient Processing Screen, enter the quick command sch into the Command field. Complete the Daily Service Inquiry screen. You must specify a department code (a lookup Window is available) and date. You may specify a doctor or service; the default is ALL services and a ALL doctors. Print a hard copy report of an individual doctor's schedule:
Enter the quick command dsch. Complete the Doctor Service report screen to print appointments scheduled for the specified doctor and date.
The Discharge Status report lists all charges on the selected visit for an inpatient. It includes charges that do not have a performing date entered, such as imaging requisitions. Access the patient's account (and the correct inpatient visit if given a choice). Enter the quick command ds. Complete the Patient Discharge Report screen (accept the default Client and Patient number and enter a Y in the OK? field).
Click on the Summary icon at the top right of the Client/Patient Processing screen (or use the quick command summ). If your patient has no open visits, choose the visit you would like to review if you are given a choice of visits. You may access a report for multiple visits by clicking on the Visit History button, and entering the number of months to go back. If the patient has an open visit, and you want to read comment from a past, closed visit, check the 'Closed Visit Report', hit OK, and select the visit. All comments associated with the visit will be included (e.g. the History comment and imaging reports associated with the visit), along with other information such as procedures performed and attending doctors. Click on the Printer icon to print the visit summary.- Click on the Weight icon to view the Weight history or enter a new weight.
- If you want a summary across more than one visit, use the quick command msum to access the multiple visit summary screen. Specify the number of months you would like to combine in the 'History Months' field, specify an I for Inquiry (report on screen) or R for Report (hard copy printed), leave the custom report field blank, and enter a Y into the 'OK?' field.
Veterinary Diagnostic Lab Reports
- Enter the quick command vdl or pathrpts. A report will print with all of the UI Veterinary Lab pathology reports in the selected patient's record (as of April 2004). This includes the histopath and necropsy reports.
- Enter the quick command pathvrpt to print UI VDL pathology reports from a specific visit.
Click on theicon or enter the quick command ph. The procedure history screen displays all procedures that have been performed on the patient for the select patient (if the performing date has not been entered in the Charge screen that procedure will not appear here).
Press F9 to view more information, such as the operator's name or visit number.- Click the following link to learn how to reprint lab requisitions.
- Enter the quick command prinq to access the Procedure Search Inquiry function. Enter (or select from a Search Window) the procedure code, then the dates to search. If your search finds a list of patients, select one to access that account.
- Enter the quick command procrpt to access the Procedure Audit Report screen. Enter the procedure code, doctor code (optional), date range, and clinic (optional). This will give you a report of all cases the procedure was performed for the entered dates.
Referral, Release/Discharge, and Combination Release/Referral Reports

- Enter the quick command rdvmrpts to print all referral reports for all visits for the selected patient.
- Enter the quick command rdvmvrpt to print the referral report for a specific visit (prompts for the visit selection).
- Enter the quick command disrpts to print all discharge/release reports for all visits for the selected patient
- Enter the quick command disvrpt to print the discharge/release report for a specific visit.
- Enter the quick command rlrfrpts to print all release/referral combination reports for all visits for the selected patient
- Enter the quick command rlrfvrpt to print the release/referral combination report for a specific visit.
- Enter the quick command imgrpts to print all imaging reports for all visits for the selected patient
- Enter the quick command imgvrpt to print the imaging report for a specific visit.
- Enter the quick command surgrpts to print all surgery reports for all visits for the selected patient.
- Enter the quick command surgvrpt to print the surgery reports for a specific visit.
