This lecture will provide an overview to the diagnostic approach to Hypercalcemia in dogs and cats. It will further address the common scenarios seen with hypercalcemia, and present a ‘decision-making’ approach towards when diagnostic testing is warranted and when a spurious laboratory value should be suspected. In addition, newer therapeutics will be presented that can be used to treat the more common causes of hypercalcemia when surgical interventions are not possible.
