Shuangqi Wang

Shuangqi is a toxicology scholar and PhD student working in Dr. Qiao’s lab at the Department of Comparative Biosciences. The Qiao lab examines the effects of environmental toxicants, including endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs) such as per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), and disinfection by-products (DBPs) like Iodoacetic acid (IAA), on meiosis. We aim to understand how these toxicants may lead to infertility, miscarriage, and chromosomal birth defects. To study these effects, we often use in vitro testis and ovary cultures to observe the impact of environmental toxicants on oogenesis and spermatogenesis.
