Rachel Braz-Arcanjo

Interdisciplinary Environmental Toxicology Scholar – I am a Ph.D. student working in Dr. Romana Nowak’s Laboratory. I am interested in Reproductive Toxicology and my research aims to investigate the negative effects of MEHP on early pregnancy. MEHP is the first metabolite of DEHP, one of the most common phthalates, present in food packaging, toys, paints, flooring, personal care products and medical supplies. To build up a broad picture of the impact, I am studying several outcomes in different compartments that are fundamental for a healthy gestation, as the embryo, the trophoblast cells and the maternal uterine tissues.
