Academic Advisor and Program Coordinator
Jennifer Fugate, a 2020 graduate from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign with a bachelor’s in psychology, is the Academic Advisor and Program Coordinator for the Master of Veterinary Science program in the College of Veterinary Medicine. Jennifer is a lifelong learner who began her professional journey at Illinois as a preschool teacher at Orchard Downs Preschool, located within Family & Graduate Housing. Her dedication to education then led her to the role as Office Support at the Graduate College where she provided invaluable support to graduate students.
Following her role with the Graduate College, Jennifer began her current role where she gets to work closely with students on achieving their academic and career goals while creating and nurturing a welcoming academic environment for a diverse group of students from all around the globe. Her passion for education and dedication to fostering an inclusive and equitable learning environment led her to pursue and EdM in Education Policy, Organization, and Leadership with a concentration in Diversity and Equity in Education, a program she is currently pursuing at her alma mater.
Beyond her professional role, Jennifer is a mother to two young daughters, Reyleigh and Noelle, and a cat named Nami who loves laying in their laps on a cozy blanket. Jennifer’s family life is characterized by a world of creativity, with an abundance of crafts, science experiments, dance parties, and imaginative play.
