Academic and Student Affairs Remodel: Demo Day Begins

Demolition is officially underway for the Academic and Student Affairs office remodel. This phase focuses on removing existing finishes and systems to prepare the space for new infrastructure, improved layouts, and upgraded services. Completing demolition allows the project team to assess existing conditions and begin building toward a more efficient, accessible, and student‑focused office environment. This milestone moves the project from planning into active construction as we work toward delivering a refreshed ASA space.

Academic and Student Affairs Remodel: Demolition Phase Update

Demolition work is actively underway for the Academic and Student Affairs office remodel. Existing finishes have been removed, ceilings opened, and outdated building systems exposed to allow for necessary upgrades. Crews are clearing the space and preparing it for new mechanical, electrical, and structural improvements. This phase is essential to ensure the new ASA offices can support modern technology, improved accessibility, and a more efficient layout. Following demolition, construction will move into rebuilding and installation of new finishes and systems.

With demolition complete, construction has moved into the framing phase. New metal wall studs are being installed to establish the layout of offices, corridors, and service areas. This work represents a major transition from clearing space to building the structure of the new ASA offices.

As wall framing continues, individual offices and shared spaces are becoming clearly defined. The new layout reflects improved functionality and workflow, supporting future installation of electrical, mechanical, and technology systems. Work continues to move forward in Zuschlag/ISVMA Heritage Collection as part of the Academic and Student Affairs remodel. Crews are currently focused on infrastructure upgrades, including mechanical, electrical, and lighting improvements, to support modernized learning and support environments.

Academic and Student Affairs Remodel: New Carpet Installed

The Academic Student Affairs renovation is approaching the finish line. New carpet and glass office partitions have been installed, giving the space a modern, bright, and welcoming appearance. Final construction activities and finishing touches are underway as the project team prepares for furniture installation and department move-in. Each completed milestone brings the renovated space one step closer to supporting students, faculty, and staff in an updated and functional environment.

The New and Improved Zuschlag/ISCMA Heritage Collection

The completed renovation transformed this classroom and meeting space into a modern, flexible environment designed to support learning, training, and collaboration. New furnishings, including mobile tables and ergonomic seating, allow the room to be easily reconfigured for a variety of academic and administrative functions. Updated flooring, improved lighting, and refreshed finishes create a comfortable and professional atmosphere. Existing display cases were incorporated into the upgraded design, preserving the College’s history while enhancing the overall appearance of the space. The completed project delivers a versatile, technology-ready environment that supports educational programming, meetings, and student engagement activities.

Academic and Student Affairs Open for Business

The Academic & Student Affairs renovation project modernized and refreshed the administrative office suite within the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine. The completed space features updated wall finishes in University colors, new departmental branding and signage, improved lighting, and refreshed flooring that creates a welcoming and professional environment for students, faculty, and visitors. The renovation enhances wayfinding, improves the overall appearance of the office area, and supports daily operations with a clean, cohesive design. The completed project provides an updated, functional workspace that reflects the College’s commitment to student success and professional excellence.

  • High-Tech AV Setup: The room features a flexible audiovisual system: instructors can choose to display side-by-side dual video feeds or a single, large centered image. It supports content from desktops, laptops, document cameras, or auxiliary inputs. AV is managed via a touchscreen LCD, and multiple microphones (including handheld/beltpack and panel mics) are available. The room also supports lecture recording University of Illinois Answers.

The renovated Large Animal Clinic Auditorium 100 will feature a state-of-the-art audio and visual system designed to enhance the learning environment for our student doctors. Six strategically placed ceiling-mounted speakers will provide clear, evenly distributed sound throughout the space, ensuring an improved auditory experience during lectures and presentations.

Wider Steps

Our auditorium remodel is bringing wider, safer stairs for improved comfort and accessibility. The new design features expanded treads, integrated step lighting, and better edge definition to enhance safety in low lighting. Wider steps make it easier for students to pass, provide secure footing, and improve traffic flow during events. Crews are currently framing the tiers, installing lighting, and preparing for non-slip finishes. These upgrades will make a big difference for all attendees, from performances to community meetings. We appreciate your patience during construction and can’t wait to welcome you back to a safer, more comfortable auditorium experience soon.

The project included the installation of new, spacious seating designed for comfort and accessibility, along with brand-new carpet to enhance the look and feel of the auditorium. State-of-the-art audio and video technology was also added, improving sound clarity and visual presentations for lectures and events. These upgrades were finished just in time for students to return, ensuring an improved academic environment that supports both teaching and learning in one of the College of Veterinary Medicine’s most utilized lecture halls.
