I wanted to welcome everyone to the start of the new school year and give some exciting news about your Facilities upgrades that continue improve the quality of spaces throughout the college.
Again, the college is undergoing some dramatic changes. Change can be noisy, dusty and sometimes painful, but necessary at times in order to provide an up to date teaching and learning environment. My group and I are pleased to be part of such an exciting time and will try our best to make all of the changes as painless as we possibly can. Ongoing Construction, Renovation, and Upgrade Projects at Vet Med
Oncology Addition
- Moving along nicely: framing interior walls, installing infrastructure, roofing, grade work, etc.
- Siding panels and windows expected in 5–6 weeks.
- Substantial completion: 3-9-2026.
Parking Lot F27 Bus Lane
- Old bus lane removed and replaced with new solid concrete.
- Lane is now free of large holes that could damage vehicles.
- Striping work scheduled for mid-September.
Basic Sceince Building Classroom 2258 AV/Facility Upgrade
- Much-needed AV upgrade completed (thanks to AV coordinator).
- Installed new ceiling, lighting, and controls.
- Removed legacy equipment for a modern feel.
Large Animal Clinic Auditorium 100
- New AV system installed (thanks to AV coordinator).
- New carpeting, seating (with electrical outlets), and podium.
- Winning design chosen by students earlier this year.
- Handrails for safer egress currently in production and will be installed after fabrication.
Large Animal Clinic Locker Rooms
- Block work ongoing; completion expected in next few weeks.
- Tile, ceilings, and fixtures to follow.
- Project completion: late September.
Round Barns
- East barn and manager’s house went out to bid 8-14-2025.
- Bid opening: September.
- Construction begins: November.
- Middle and west barns in design phase; completion expected December.
Equine Recovery Stall Emergency Doors
- New emergency doors purchased.
- Scheduled installation: October.
Small Anicmal Clinic Air Handling Unit Replacement
- Currently at 50% design phase.
- Replacing last remaining original air handler in SAC.
ASA Remodel
- In final stages of design.
- Goes to bid in the next month.
- Complete redesign of ASA offices to better serve students.
Veterinary Diagnostic Lab Trim Room
- Nearing final completion.
- Ceiling, lighting, and flooring being wrapped up.
- Equipment shipping in September.
Orthopedic / Rehabilitaion Upgrades
- Preliminary space design discussions underway with Rehab/Ortho staff.
Hunt Sculpture Upgrades
- New landscape designs completed.
- Aim: make the sculpture more accessible and a campus focal point.
Standing Equine CT
- Project in design phase.
- Will bring much-needed standing CT for large animal.
South Clinic Phase 2–3 Addition
- Early design/development stage.
- Potential additions: more exam rooms, offices, and a larger rounds room.
On another note, the Dean and I had a very constructive meeting with campus parking and they are investing some more capital to remedy some of the short falls at our college. Some of these projects are ready to deliver, while others are in the process of design work.
- They will be adding additional spots to the south lot of F27. We are hoping to see 20-25 spots in this location
- They will be begin design phase of the north lot of F27 this fall. They are hoping to get a minimum of 80-100 spots in this location.
- They are going to complete a safety study on Lincoln avenue to look at potential spots south of Hazelwood Drive.
