11/12/20 Weekly Update

Good Morning,

We are pleased to say that Phase 1 of the expansion project is getting close to completion and that we will be able to take ownership of the space in the next couple of months. I know that we have been pushed to our limits with the pandemic and all the unknowns that this has brought us but I want to say that the Vet Med Facilities group continues to push hard to make up lost time and complete the projects that were so close to completion before we had to close them down.

We are in the process of lab improvements at Basic Science Building due to new faculty hires. We have been able to complete the Dentistry remodel, pharmacy clean room, LAC sliding doors, the Equine lameness arena, as well as the Ambassador residence. We have also completed the new Ophthalmology space which will become a flex space for services as we move to complete the expansion project.

We have initiated two new projects that will begin in the coming months. One will be a new incinerator located just west of the old one in VDL and the other will be an AG research building at our research farm on South Race Street.

Again, the college is undergoing some dramatic changes. Change can be noisy, dusty and sometimes painful, but necessary at times in order to provide an up to date teaching and learning environment. My group and I are pleased to be part of such an exciting time and will try our best to make all of the changes as painless as we possibly can. If you need assistance at any time please call or email our ticket system at facilities@vetmed.illinois.edu
