Signalment and history:

An 8 month old male castrated toy poodle is presented after he was hit by a car. The dog had escaped out of the door and run across the road. He is non weight bearing on the left rear limb and reluctant to walk. Thoracic radiographs and abdominal ultrasound results were negative. The owners are busy, but believe they can confine the dog to a small room.
