Signalment and history:
A six month old male domestic short hair cat is presented to you with a left rear limb non weight bearing lameness and a large wound over the mid proximal femur. The cat has been missing for one day. The owners brought him in as soon as they found him. The rest of the physical examination is normal. Thoracic and abdominal radiographs were normal. The owners are concerned about cost. The cat is a barn cat, but the owners are willing to keep him in a cage in the house for the post op healing period.
