Signalment and history:
A five-month-old border Collie is presented after being hit by a car. The dog is non-weight bearing on the rear limb.
Physical examination:
The femoral area is very swollen with instability and crepitus palpable. Chest radiographs show minor contusions of the lungs. The laboratory evaluation shows an elevated alkaline phosphatase and GGT. The owner is a veterinary student and is very willing and able to do any postoperative care you require.
